Poppy still felt like a spectator. She had no emotion invested in the old man aside from unsatisfied frustration at not telling him off over the incident earlier. But now, the words "Chief Pilot" kept ringing gloriously in her ears. Given this was a smaller ship than she had dreams of one day Captaining, but it was a fabulous ship that was a dream to fly. As the crew was speaking she fought back the urge to ask if the dress code was being relaxed. This was a time for people to say goodbye to their employer and friend. That Lindemann earned this level of loyalty and respect form the crew was admirable. She took up a glass for the toast along with the erst of the crew.

For the form of it all, Ryan took a glass as well. But somehow it felt more like a funeral than a celebration.

Morgan took a glass as well, and stood quietly for a moment, considering what she should say next.

"To Captain Lindemann," she said finally. "There are good ships, and there are wood ships, the ships that sail the sea. But the best ships, are friendships, and may they always be." She raised her glass, smiled sadly, then downed the scotch in one shot.

Ryan managed to get himself together enough to listen to what Morgan had to say, and he could only agree with her. A sad smile came to his face as she spoke her words. "To captain Lindemann and friendships", he added and then emptied his own glass, like Morgan, in one shot.

Brandon thought of several things to say. An Earth-that-was Irish toast came to mind, but he dismissed it. He, like Poppy, wasn't as invested as the others, so he simply added, "Ganbei!" before drinking.

Mark's eyes water at Morgan's toast, he had something to add

" And friendships last forever "

He downs his drink , then sits down at the command post , he wanted his crew to interact with Gunther, most likely for the last time, the refueler was now beside the Atlantis ready to dock to the starboard airlock

Poppy took a drink from her glass and quickly held back a gasp. These outer rim folks had a distinct tolerance for alcohol that was far in excess of what would be acceptable in the Core. Still she swallowed the stiff beverage as the warmth of the liquid filled her senses.

The sensation was quickly interrupted by a voice coming over the com unit plugged into her ear. She spun about in the Co-Pilot's chair and let her fingers dance over the flight boards.

=Copy that SilStar Tanker. I show you approaching for soft docking. Please hold position for external airlock mating.=

"Captain," she started still not sure who she was addressing, "the Tanker has come along side for personnel transfer. Shall I extend the docking ring?"

Gunther looked at Mark who then nodded to Poppy

" Extend the docking ring and perform hard dock Poppy, Kundan could you ensure that Gunther's belongings are transferred to the other ship "

Kundan begins putting Gunther's bags on a cart which he had waiting off to the side

" Consider it done Mark, I mean sir "

Mark taps some commands into the console the stands to his feet

" Well sir may I will escort you to the airlock for departure, I think the crew will want to join in as well, Poppy you have the conn "

Mark gets up as does Gunther, Mark indicates to the rest of the group that they may come as well to see the former captain off

Ryan got up as well and took his place behind the other two men. The chief engineer had been in a lot of tight situations where he needed to act fast, but all of a sudden it felt to him that things were happening more quickly than he could handle.

"Aye Captain." She responded and turned back forward shielding her enormous smile from the rest of the crew.

Her hands moved across the board, triggering the extension of the docking ring.

=SilStar Tanker, Atlantis is ready to recieve.= She watched carefully as the universal port from the other vessel joined up to theirs. Shortly the indicators on the board flipped green. =Copy that SilStar, we confirm hard dock. Give us a minute to crack the door open." Her voice was upbeat and peppy. "We are all tied up and ready." She annouced to anyone still on the bridge.

Poppy immediately went to checking through diagnostics for the flight controls and stores. With the new quantity of fuel on board, it should be smooth sailing to Persephony from here. She cheerfully went about her work reseting the ship's instruments for the short trip ahead. They had been drifting for too long, it would be nice to feel the power of the engines again. She arched her back in a small stretch. This was getting exciting.

Brandon stayed close to Morgan, unsure if she would follow or not. He assumed she would, and he'd be there for her if she needed him. Right now it was all about letting the old crew deal with their emotions, so he tried to stay out of the way as best he could.

Morgan walked behind Ryan, following the group out of the Bridge. She noticed Brandon walking close beside her, and smiled awkwardly at him.

"Today has been full of surprises, huh?" she said, quiet enough that she hoped nobody would overhear. "I'd say we're long overdue for that drink. Think you'll have some downtime once our sappy farewells are over?"

Morgan tried to make light of the situation. She was feeling overwhelmed, and still regretted that she didn't get a chance to speak to Captain Lindemann one-on-one before he left the ship. Forced cheerfulness and false bravado were her go-to defense mechanisms.

"I can only hope," he responded. He didn't want to look too happy, but the thought of them finally sitting down together for that drink sent flutters through his stomach.

Jelena and Sue brought up the rear as the group left the bridge. They hadn't known Lindemann for long, but were sad to see him go - he clearly was a good man.

They remained silent as they headed for the docking port.

Poppy shortly found herself alone on the Bridge. Her bridge. She wasted little time to switch herself into the Chief Pilot's position. She took her blue courier tube and tucked it under the control board. She really should inform Mark of it's existence. She had told Lindemann, and now he was departing. Technically they were almost to Persephone, where she could hand it off at the nearest Blue Sun office at the Eavesdown Docks. There wasn't much reason to say anything... except that she felt she really should. But for the moment it was hidden and secure.

The Chief Pilot's couch really did feel better than the co-pilot station. She stretched and felt the contouring shape cradle her. She closed her eyes and smiled. She rubbed her head against the tall backing, feeling her hair crush along the leather upholstery. This felt right. The only thing that might feel better was the Captain's chair. She looked over her shoulder at the single raised command dias. Someday... not today... but soon.

Mark and Gunther reached the airlock at the same time, they wait for the others to arrive , Kundan was there with the cart of Gunther's belongings, Mark fought back emotions trying to rise to the surface as he cycled the airlock

OOC: This is after the airlock thread

Mark strides onto the bridge and announces

" Captain on the bridge "

Which felt strange , he walks onto the flight deck and pauses at his new quarters still not wearing a shirt and holding the torn one, there he stood in snug fitting black Under Armor gym pants and no shirt, this displayed his lean muscular build. One could see every fiber of muscle, the man was ripped , Mark stood there realizing that he had no shirts since he had basically just been rehired after a quick stint on Serenity, Jayne had borrowed all his shirts and destroyed them

" Gorram it I need a shirt, so much for dress code !"

Mark sits in the command chair and drapes the torn shirt over his chest to cover some of him up , his face was red with embarrassment

Poppy turned as Mark entered the flight deck. "Welcome back Cap'n" she said with a playful smile. "We have separation from Silstar and she is getting underway. Care to send any parting courtesies?"

She looked at his ripped silhouette sitting there in the command chair. Her parents had long taught her that the value of a man is in his mind, not his physique. Considering the world of Academia she grew up in she pretty much held to that maxim. Mark did make it look good though. Poppy blushed and looked away. "The new dress code suits you, sir. Very neo-barbarian. Any chance we can relax it for the rest of us too?" She inquired not realizing she was implying she might take her top off.

Shortly behind Mark, there was a knock on the bridge door. When he turned to see who it was, he would notice Sue and Jelena standing by the door, the former holding a clip board and the latter having put her hair uncharacteristically up with a green hair-band.

Mark blushed a bit

" Yeah I like the look, but I seem to be out of shirts since Jayne borrowed mine back on Serenity, I think dress code should be maintained but we'll be more casual while on duty, Theres a place near the dock where they sale nice looking ship clothes, I think you'll take a liking to them as they have nice ladies attire , I plan on getting some snug fitting jump suits and athletic stuff, Ohh wait a minute I have one old shirt left , I'll be right back "

Mark had just emerged from his quarters wearing a rather tight fitting blue Under Armor T shirt, the poor thing strained over his broad shoulders and revealed the ripped build underneath, he jogs to the bridge hatch and opens it for the ladies , then steps back to let them in

...and once more the bridge was hers. She clicked up the flight boards and began the astrogation computations getting them to Persephone. In truth it was a pretty easy job. She could actually make out the distant twinkling orb or Persephone in the sky. She could dead reckon their way there with just the stick and thruster controls. She had half a mind to do it that way, it was more fun. But there were procedures to follow when correcting a flight plan. The little incident with the fuel had left them drifting a bit outside their expected travel route. But that was nothing that couldn't be easy corrected with full tanks and engines ready to purrr. She cued the intercom.

=Captain, we are plotted for cruising speed to Peresphony and are ready to get underway on your command. Would you like to give the word in here, pop some champagne or something, or shall I get us going?" She inquired playfully. It was fun having another pilot as her commanding officer, she felt uncommonly familiar with the man.
