Ayla didn't have an answer for the doc as to what had happened to the captain. The last she had seen of him, he had been fine, with no bullet wounds. So his injury had to have happened when everything started. She was still wondering what had happend to Olaf...Just what his plan had been. She closed her eyes for only a moment as she saw Ronon come in and start to help. When she opened them again she was looking a Freya...Ayla smiled to herself and then turned her head and attention to watch as they tended to the captain.

Ronon looked at the cuffs and had an idea

" Got bolt cutters in the mule, be right back "

Ronon was gone for only a couple of minutes and reappears with the bolt cutters, he makes quick work of the cuffs , then washes up again

" OK doc, I can help the captain, I have O negative blood and I am willing to donate, or do you have anything in your blood bank ? "

Ronon knew that these small medical centers did not carry much, heck the Odysseys med bay was better equipped than this clinic, If only they could move the doc there, but moving the captain was out of the question
Ronon awaits the doctors response as he looks over Ayla

" Ayla here took a tumble from a mule doing about 30 onto level ground " Ronon was gentle while cutting the cuffs off of both of them, at least they would be a bit more comfy, Once on the ship he would remove the cuffs themselves with his pickin kit

While all of this was going on, the captain remained under. Whether the doctor had enough blood would probably depend on how much she had used in the last couple of days. Type O negative blood wasn't rare, but it was the universal donor and was therefore often used during operations where a patient needed extra blood quickly.

Life moved at the clinic. Something about that idea surprised her, though she wasn't sure why. A doctor had to protect life, according to their ancient oath to do no harm. It had been ancient even by Earth-That-Was standards, and so now, long after that Earth had faded into myth, it had to be incredibly powerful to still exist. Polar opposites, life and death, yin and yang. All balanced in a universe that, on its own, could care less about the petty existence of the human race or its survival. Humans were fleas on the pelt of whatever planet they colonized, then those planets were fleas amidst the universe they continued through, inexorably, until a sun went nova to wipe them away. And even the 'Verse itself was part of many others, a flea within the greatest expanse of space. The thought was hardly something a soul could wrap their head around.

No wonder, then, that the legend of the Reapers' creation was based around those who went to the edge of space and looked beyond to find nothingness that consumed them. Thinking of one's self as the equivalent of a quark or lepton on the backs of atoms making up a molecule making up an element making up an entire planet and beyond might well cause madness.

The questionable sanity of the intelligent woman paused across the street from the pirates had always been a subject of suspicion amongst her superiors in the Alliance. It had made her good at her job, until she had to let them feel her displeasure at some of their actions.

Shadai had little in the way of haste with this matter. The Alliance would be coming, and she couldn't get far enough away on her supplies to keep them off her scent this time. If they were in the area, they would know she was there. They always did. She had to stay one step ahead of them.

These pirates were in trouble with the Alliance as well. She could play nice with others when necessary, like it was now. Unfortunately, they had the upper hand in that she needed them while they had no need of her, currently. She would have to change that and fast. Whoever was in there had need of metal cutters. She'd spotted them in the hands of a dreadlocked man who had rushed to the mule and back. Their wounded would be trussed up and loaded for their ship once the doctor got done, no two ways about it. They'd want out of the area to heal in the black, where it was safe.

She could only offer them one thing, but it would tip her hand to the Alliance faster than she wanted. They might go a day or so before realizing she had been there, if she loaded up and took off now. If she stayed long enough to fight them, she would garner their attention much, much sooner. Not too many people openly assaulted the Alliance on their own.

Then again, not many people had the qualifications and dubious sanity to pull it off when they needed, either. But that was the Alliance's own fault for creating her to be what she was, and allowing her to see some of their secrets. Before the biggest of them had bade her turn against them, that is. "One does not train the tiger to dance and then step upon its toe," she murmured mostly to herself, pondering on her next few actions.

She was highly visible to those in the clinic. All they had to do was look out a window or glance down the way when stepping outside. She leaned her upper body against the top of a wooden railing and simply watched, waiting, in the shade. She was, at the moment, the only person out of doors along the entire main street. Even the animals had been taken in to safety.

As Ronon got the blood kit from a cup board he looked out the window that looked upon the street, he noticed a women leaning on a railing staring right at him, he grimaces as he turns his attention to the captain and the doctor ready to respond to her requests

Ashe watched approvingly as Ronon worked with the bolt cutters, pleased that she'd lucked on someone so competent to help her out.

"Alright, I'll start prepping for a transfusion," she said, moving over to the refrigeration unit to fetch some of the synthetically preserved blood supplies. She pulled open the unit door and her face fell.

"Wo de ma," she whispered under her breath, cursing her lack of pre-planning. She remembered all too late using the last of the supplies not two days ago when one of the farmhands had lost his left arm in a threshing machine. She turned back to Ronon, her face perfectly calm.

"You said you'd be willing to donate blood, Mr Ronon," she said, "Are you still?"

Ronon glared at the near empty refrigeration unit. he walks over to a bed next to the captains and lays down

" You bet Doc. The man needs blood so lets git this done, just leave enough in me so I can get back to the boat "

Ronon lays out his left arm ready to help his captain

" Just don't poke a hole in my tattoo "

Ronon manages a bit of a smile as he relaxes and lets the doctor set up the transfusion, soon his blood would be flowing into August , literally part of Ronon would be going to save August's life, a man Ronon shot a little over 24 hours ago, a man he did not know, soon they would be blood brothers of a sort . August would be part Setidan after this , The 'verse had a strange way of doing things, Ronon only hoped that they would be out of here before the Alliance arrived

Ashe immediately began prepping the two of them for direct transfusion. Normally there would have been a long process, a lot of questions for Ronon to be asked, and tests to verify that he was suitable to give blood. However the urgency of the Captain's condition had neatly bypassed all that. If he didn't get blood from Ronon, he would almost certainly die. There was an almost beautiful simplicity to it.

"You're two lucky men," she said, as she finished the prep work, "Alliance breakthroughs have made the direct passing of blood between donor and recipient a 100% efficient and relatively painless process. Mr Ronon, I'll have to stay pretty close to your Captain, so if you start to feel any pain or discomfort whatsoever, I'll need you to shout. Are you ready?"

Ronon knew to lie still to keep his heart rate low , he simply nods a yes to the doctor and watches her go to work, soon he watches as his blood begins to flow through the tubes and into August, the doctor was monitoring things closely
Pain was nothing new to Ronon and he could handle a lot of it, but he knew what the doctor meant , He needed enough blood to survive , but he needed to donate enough the help August , Ronon rested listening to his body

OOC: Excellent all around! Great job everyone!

IC:
Shadai watched, and waited. But whatever plan she was formulating in her head, it was about to be thrown a very large wrench.

In the late afternoon sky, forms were moving into the atmosphere. When the specks became large enough for her to recognize, she could see four ASREVs escorting three ALSTs. Their heading indicated they would reach the site of the earlier fire in less than a half-hour. It wouldn't take them long to start fanning out for their prey, assuming they were looking for these pirates.

Waiting was no longer a luxury she could afford.

~GM~

OOC:
ASREV = Alliance Short Range Enforcement Vehicle - a gunship.
ALST = Alliance Landing Ship, Tank - a dropship capable of delivering ground troops and mechanized infantry. Luckily, these dropships are somewhat slow moving.

Meanwhile, in the clinic, August was slowly coming to. He felt a minor headache and a numb sensation in his shoulder. After a few seconds he remembered what had happened and why he was here. Instinctively he tried to rub his shoulder with his good hand, but something was pulling at it. The captain looked down at the arm and noticed a tube attached to it. His vision finally fully focused and he followed the tube, which led to a small apparatus. Another tube was attached to the apparatus, which led to another bed next to him. There he saw Ronon. Although everything was still rather blurry, August quickly managed to put two and two together. "How long was I out?" he asked nobody in particular.

"Not long enough," Ashe commented dryly from the machines, "Don't you dare try to move."

She turned to Ronon and smiled, "It seems you're a hell of a donor, Mr Ronon. I've set up a nice slow drip so just relax for a while, gentleman. I'm not going anywhere far, so holler if something's up."

Nodding at both of them, she strode briskly over to Ayla and sat down beside where the girl lay.

"How're you doing, honey?" she asked as she began sorting through her medbag.

August processed the information the doctor had provided and then turned to Ronon. "How long was I out?" he asked again, but this time directed at the man next to him. August knew that the Alliance was coming and he needed to know if they had any chance to reach the ship, or if they would have to hide in town.

Shadai's eyes narrowed slightly as she beheld the two ships slowly making their way toward the still-smoking area. "Ta ma de," she growled quietly. "You would have to be overachieving and come early, wouldn't you?"

There wasn't a moment to lose. She nimbly went over the railing and landed softly on the other side. Striding toward the doc's place across the way, she waited until she was even with their mule before cautiously calling out, "Way! You folk!"

Her shoulder was no longer dislocated, but it still felt odd. And if the doc was to look closely she would notice the start of bruising on the girls cheekbone and her arm, in the slight shape of a hand. Ronon looked over at August

" Maybe 10 minutes "

Wait was that engines he heard in the distance?

" We may have to lay low here, I spotted a cellar entrance for this structure "

Ronon knew how to hide a platoon since he had done it during the war, that cellar would be ideal and the mule was no problem

Ronon hears a voice outside the clinic and then Naraea calling out, then the growl of Freya , he wanted to get up and tend to the situation, but he was tied up for now

When nobody walked out, Shadai moved to the entrance. Just the entrance. Within, there was a growling dog and a weary looking couple.

She didn't have time to be pleasant. "You have a half hour," she said simply. "Four gunboats and three dropships. ASREV and ALST from what I could make out." Her dark brows lifted slightly. "If you don't have a plan, I might. Seeing as you have some... casualties." She glanced toward the other room, figuring the doc was there with her patients and the dreadlocked man. "I won't even ask for much." She looked at the duo more carefully. "If your Captain is conscious, at least, to make the arrangement."

August caught only words from the woman in front of the shop, but he distinctly heard the word 'dropship'. So the Alliance had found him. Although he still felt a bit weary, now that he had enough blood in him again thinking straight was a lot easier. Those soldiers would be here in minutes, so they wouldn't have long to erase their traces. "Ronon. You help the doctor clean things up. The Alliance will be here soon and I don't want them finding a clinic which has obviously been used only moments ago to treat patients." He looked around the room and saw the doctor busy with Ayla. "And ask Ayla to help as well, if she's up to it" he added to the large man.

The captain undid the tube attached to his arm and got off the bed carefully, steadying himself at the edge. As he'd expected, he felt a moment of dizziness, which luckily soon passed. He looked around the room and found what he had been looking for. The tracking device in his arm was still switched on. And although turning it on was easy, reversing that process was not. There was no time to cut the device out of his arm, since it was placed in there pretty deep. There was only one thing to be done on such short notice.

August made his way to the defibrilator he had located on a table and switched it on to a not too high voltage. While it was charging, he grabbed a towel and wrapped his hand in it. If he'd knock something over due to the electric shock he was about to send through his lower arm and the tracking device, he at least wouldn't wound himself.

The defibrilator indicated it was ready and August stuck a patch on each side of his arm, ensuring that the electrical current would pass through the device. He clenched his teeth and hit the big green button on the defibrilator. His arm cramped up as he felt a very sharp pain going through it. The jolt took less than a second, but his arm spasmed longer than that. August forced himself to breathe steadily and peeled off the patches. That would have to do; there was no way to check if he had succesfully disabled the tracking device, but there was no time for that. His arm still felt numb.

Ashe nodded as she processed the information, paying little attention to the voices from the front entrance, or to August and Ronon's subsequent conversation.

"Well, sounds like you certainly took quite a tumble. First things first we'll check your side, you say it hurts to take a deep breath?"

She gently lifted the bottom of Ayla's shirt, trying to preserve the girl's modesty as best she could. An ugly purple bruise was forming up one side of her body. It looked nasty, but hardly life-threatening.

Ashe smiled reassuringly at the girl on the bed,

"Barely a bump," she said, "There's some swelling here and there, which I think might be what's giving you trouble breathing. Just try to stay relaxed and it'll pass. If you'll give me one minute, I can spare you a little Propoxin, which should help calm things down in there."

Ashe stood up, and had just turned to make her way to the medical cabinet when...
